  • This year I debuted my Singing Tips Picture Quotes on social media weekly on Hump Day. In the beginning they were random thoughts but now the quotes relate to the previous Singing Tips Live Show.

  • In March 2019, The Benita Charles Trio performed a soulful set at the Soul of the City Concert Series at Ashford & Simpson's The Sugar Bar on the upper west side.  We performed mostly for an audience who didn't know us and our music was well received.

  • In June 2019, The Benita Charles Trio performed at Corkscrew Wines Brooklyn for the 13th annual Make Music New York. It was a wonderful event.  We had the audience singing along in the streets to Work To Do (Isley Brothers). We had a lot of positive feedback from the audience that they enjoyed themselves. The highlight of the night was when one of the audience members approached us to tell us his mother, who was wheel chaired bound and passing through reacted to our music.  She was told that she would die on Tuesday but she was determined to see her grandson's graduation and insisted on going.  Her nurse was pushing her wheel chair past us when they stopped and listened to our song, "Work To Do."  Her son told us that she reacted to the music and he was so excited about that! That touched my heart in such a way. Before he left, he said, "Work! Work!"  I can't explain the joy I felt in knowing that our music reached her to give a reaction.  That was the first time that had ever happened and it was truly a miracle. The power of music is incredible!!!

  • In August 2019, I presented my one-woman show, Benita Charles: My Musical Journey To Love at the Harlem Library. The show chronicles my musical journey from childhood through adulthood. The library loved the show so much that they invited me to present the show in October. It was well received by the audience and library staff.

  • In November 2019, the Benita Charles Trio performed at the New York City Marathon in Sunset Park Brooklyn.  It was such a great experience to provide encouragement and entertainment to the runners in the marathon.  Our site manager was pleased with our performance. It was a great experience.

  • In November 2019, I had the pleasure of meeting the actor, Leon from one of my all time favorite movies, The Five Heartbeats at the Rivington Rehearsal Studios in New York City.  He was rehearsing with his band, Leon and the Peoples in the room next to ours.  We were rehearsing for the NYC Marathon show. It was wonderful to meet him and he was so gracious to take a picture with me!

  • In November 2019, I created the Facebook Group, Singing Tips Live Community as a place for fans of the Singing Tips Live Show with Benita Charles can come together and share ideas, comments and feedback about the show. The group has continued to grow each week.

Highlights of the Decade (2010s):

  • One the the greatest achievement of the decade was releasing my single, Never Ever Give Up and producing the video for the song in 2018. Prior to that the last release was 2007.  I had been performing live throughout the years but it was the first time in a long time that I put out any new music.  It was a great since of accomplishment and a great experience with working on the video for the song.  The song has been featured on the Women of Substance Radio/Podcast/Spotify Playlist and Ramsay Unleashed: Going Beyond Borders podcast in Scotland. I'm looking forward to new music in 2020.

  • In December 2018, I released my Christmas song that I've been performing live for years called, Christmastime (My Favorite Time of the Year). The song has been featured on the Women of Substance Radio/Podcast/Spotify Playlist and Ramsay Unleashed: Going Beyond Borders podcast in Scotland. It's been well received.

  • The Benita Charles Trio: I really enjoy performing with Peter Archer (guitar) and Cheo Rodrigues (percussion) through the years.  they are talented musicians and great to work with. In the past I've worked with a larger band but I find the smaller group works with with the type of intimate shows that I like to present.

  • Preachermann and The Revival Band: This is a 10-piece atomic soul band led by Ed "Preachermann" Holley. This is a larger group than my trio but it is so great to be in the company of such accomplished professionals.  We've been performing together for over a decade and have great chemistry on stage. I've grown as an artist because we perform a diverse set of music from various genres in addition to original music by Preachermann. I sing background and are featured on Chain of Fools and Out on a Limb. It's truly a spiritual experience each and every time we perform on stage.

  • Singing Tips Live by Benita Charles: Since creating an hosting the Singing Tips Live Show on Periscope (in the beginning) and Facebook Live (presently) for over four years now, I have a great since of purpose and direction with my career.  I've never considered myself a Teacher and Influencer but that's exactly what this show has made me. The show was originally designed for beginner singers to show them the steps to becoming a professional singer through the artist development tips I share.  However, it is popular with people from all walks of life because many of the tips are universal and can apply to any profession.  I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride and I am learning and growing in the process. I've made new friends and fans from all over the world in addition to growing my fan base. I look forward to what the future holds for 2020 with the show.
