My Musical Journey To Love: My performance at the Harlem Library today was wonderful! I am so grateful to my family and friends who came out and supported me! I appreciate your support from the bottom of my heart!
A special thanks to Jean Harripersaud of the Harlem Library for inviting me to perform in their Harlem Week programming. I enjoyed sharing my musical journey with the audience and singing my music.
Highlights from Harlem Library Show:
1) You Have To Show Up
o Because I showed up, new people were exposed to my music and I found new fans.
o There were fans who attended who didn’t know me and were curious from the promotion of the library
2)·I Designed The Performance As A One-Woman Show
o I named the show, Benita Charles: My Musical Journey to Love.
o In the show, I shared my background: how I started singing, my experience through various stages of my career to the present projects.
o The design of the show worked out great for the way the space was designed.
o Jean from the library love the way I designed the show with my speech of who I am in the beginning and concert at the end because it gave context to the songs.
3)·I Received Rave Reviews From The Audience & Staff
o The audience was fully engaged and invested in the show
o The audience was thoroughly entertained
o I received positive feedback from the staff at the library as well
o That lets me know I did my job!
4)·The Library Wants Me To Return In October
o Jean plans to promote it better for greater attendance!
o I plan to promote it heavily as well
o I plan to expand the show and add more content to my story
